october flowers

Freelance Whales: my current jam. I am very thankful for friends who have similar taste in music and introduce me to bands such as this one.

also, aren't these flowers wonderful? I believe every apartment can benefit from a little bit of foliage. they make our wood paneled walls a smidge less sketchy.

the most important thing I will do today

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works"

oh, brooke

I've been listening to Brooke Fraser's "Flags" on repeat for the past 48 hours. It is definitely a contender for my favorite album of 2010. I think if I could be anyone else for a day, I would be her, hands down. She is a beautiful woman who writes beautiful music, all for the glory of God. I love it.

Come, tell me your trouble
I'm not your answer
But I'm a listening ear

Reality has left you reeling
All facts and no feeling
No faith and all fear

I don't know why a good man will fall
While a wicked one stands
And our lives blow about
Like flags on the land

Who's at fault is not important
Good intentions lie dormant
And we're all to blame

While apathy acts like an ally
My enemy and I are one and the same

I don't know why the innocents fall
While the monsters still stand
And our lives blow about
Like flags on the land

I don't know why our words are so proud
Yet their promise so thin
And our lives blow about
Like flags in the wind

You who mourn will be comforted
You who hunger will hunger no more
All the last shall be first
Of this I am sure

You who weep now will laugh again
All you lonely be lonely no more
Yes, the last will be first
Of this I'm sure

I don't know why the innocents fall
While the monsters stand
I don't know why the little ones thirst
But I know the last shall be first
I know the last shall be first
I know the last shall be first

I am such a girl

did I just cry uncontrollably during a sappy movie? yes.

The movie was Love Story. If you've never seen it, don't do it unless you are prepared to release some deep, underlying, pent-up emotions that you didn't know you had. Because it's that sad.

PTL, I was at home by myself. Otherwise my roommate would've been laughing/making fun of me, because she just doesn't understand - I mean, I still cry every time I watch Little Women (and that's been one of my favorites since I was five. We're talking fifteen solid years of crying during the scene in which Beth dies...).

And then, as I was rolling off the couch to go upstairs for a box of tissues, I stepped in a plate of lasagna. with my bare feet.

why are girls like this? please tell me, I would really love to know.

my life phrase should be "never a dull moment"

so, while looking around on twitter (procrastination) at different people's pages (which sounds stalkerish, I know, but it was people on the "people you should follow" side bar, and I was clicking on them to see if I knew them), I stumbled upon this tweet:

"The people behind me in Toomers Coffee have mentioned NPR, Twitter, and at least 3 obscure bands in the past 5 min. I get it, you're cool."

after a moment of confusion, and further inspection of this girl's picture, I identify her as the girl who sat at the table in front of me in Toomer's Coffee last night. yes, this tweet is about me and one of my friends. should I be flattered or offended? I can't decide.

never a dull moment.
