cold

I just ventured outside of my apartment for about ten minutes, and it was a chilly 57 degrees. This could definitely be considered "cold" to some.

cue
bon iver.

I have pulled out my sweatshirts, and my TOMS (which make my feet sweat when it is hot, therefore they are my fall/winter shoes... but that is definitely tmi), and I purchased my first new long sleeved shirt of the season on friday. I brought my coats and jackets back to auburn from home this weekend.

I bought some lovely turquoise bowls at anthropologie today with the intention of filling them with warm things like oatmeal and mac and cheese and soup.

and, my dear friend lauren just tweeted:
"If happiness had a scent, I think it would smell just like a campfire or toasted marshmallows :)"
which, for some reason, makes me think of cold weather?

I love this.

the single person's identity

another weakness of mine is staying up late.
I do it. I'm doing it now. I'm exhausted, but I just can't bring myself to close my computer. Blogging, Facebook, Twitter all beckon. It's a problem, and I have to be up at 7:45 in the morning.

However, while browsing through page after page, I stumbled upon a note posted by a high school acquaintance. I don't know where she got it from, but it's so perfect:

"Everyone longs to give himself completely to someone, to have a deep soul relationship with another. To be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But God, to the Christian says, "No, not until you are satisfied and fulfilled and content with living and being loved by me alone. To have an intense and personal unique relationship with me alone. I love you my child. Until you discover that in only me, you will never be united with another, until you are united with me exclusively of anyone or anything else. Exclusive of any desires or longings. So my child, I want you to stop planning, and stop your wishing. Allow me to give you the most thrilling plan existing, one that you cannot imagine.

I want you to have the best. Please allow me to bring it to you. You just keep watching me, expecting the greatest things. Keep that satisfaction. knowing you can keep learning and listening to the things that i tell you. You must wait. Don't be anxious. Don't worry. Don't look around at the things you think you want. You just keep looking off, and away up to me, or you will miss me and what i have to show you. When you are ready, I will surprise you with a love far more wonderful that you would ever dream.

I want you to see in the flesh, a picture of your relationship with me. To enjoy the everlasting union, of beauty and perfection and love, that I offer you with myself. Know that I love you. I am God Almighty. Believe it and be satisfied."

I don't belong here.

No, I don't belong here.
I'm gonna set side
& set sail
for the kingdom come, kingdom come
your kingdom come
won't you let me down...
let my foolish pride forever let me down
-The Beautiful Letdown. Switchfoot.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the LORD, my beloved.
Philippians 3:20-4:1

"It makes you wonder. All the brilliant things we might have done with our lives if only we suspected we knew how."

Sunday Morning Musings

"O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied
me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of
my need for further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire.
O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be
filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still.
Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee
indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to
my soul, "Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away."
Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this
misty lowland where I have wandered so long"
-A. W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
