really? really.

I refuse to continuously rehash the details of this afternoon/evening. All you need to know is that it involved an old water heater, a new water heater, a carbon monoxide scare, and a flooded downstairs. Our apartment smells like a wet dog.

I have a feeling that this connects back to the "praying for character building experiences" decision I made a few weeks ago.

tomorrow is a new day, and it cannot come soon enough.

tall french kiss

something just happened that put me in a really good mood. If you follow me on twitter, you've probably heard by now, but I'm here to provide you with a more detailed version:

I'm in Toomer's Coffee Company at least two nights a week. Maybe four. It all depends on how much work I have to do. So of course, I'm on a first name basis with the baristas there. They know my favorite drinks. They know around what time I'll be there every day. Basically, this place is a huge part of my life as a college student.

So about ten minutes ago, as usual, I walk in the door and head to the counter to see that Trey is today's barista. He's busy making a drink, so I wait until he's finished to place my order. He walks over to the cash register, and as the words "I'd like a tall french kiss" come out of my mouth, he places the drink he had just made in front of me and says "you're never allowed to order anything else". I paid for my drink and sat down to work on my paper with a smile on my face.

I can't decide if this makes me predictable, or dedicated, or both, but either way - my drink was ready before I even ordered it. how awesome is that?

I like to think I've reached an elite status as a Toomer's customer. That's totally my pride speaking. But seriously... what in the world am I going to do when I move away from Auburn and baristas don't know my drink preferences? I have no idea.

I have a new love

her name is Brooke Waggoner. she sings and plays the piano beautifully, and her music makes me want to run through a field of tall grass, in the sun, while wearing a dress. Oh, how cheesy that sounds... or as Joy Williams of The Civil Wars would say, "how hallmarkish".

enjoy.

musical perfection

on Friday night, I went here:

it was probably one of the most magical nights I've ever had.

picture this: Waverly, AL is in the middle of nowhere, about twenty minutes down 280 from Auburn. they played there on a little stage, with everyone sitting on blankets on the grass in front of them. there were crickets, and stars, and and I wished so badly that I was old enough to be enjoying a glass of wine. I want to go back and stay in that night - it didn't last long enough.

and if you haven't heard The Civil Wars, let this be your official introduction.

for lack of a better post,

here are some recent obsessions:

1. dill pickle spears. don't hate. there's a jar of them sitting next to me on my desk right now.
2. doing nerdy things, such as reading Psychology Today (okay, so I may do that on a regular basis), organizing my list of movies I want to purchase by the year in which they were released, and going with Kelsey to her Art of Architecture class, which I am not enrolled in.
3. this song.
4. Sunday night brinners. this is a Musselwhite family tradition that I have gladly brought to the plains. I can make some pretty delicious french toast and scrambled eggs.
5. the VMAs. every year, I get super excited for this sunday night. let's be honest, nothing can top Kanye's stunt last year, but I was a little disappointed by this year's lack of scandal. and Lady Gaga not performing? what was that??
6. not tweeting. Twitter and I are taking a break, and it's so freeing. Sharing my thoughts via a 140 character text was becoming too much of an obligation, and therefore losing its appeal. I'll eventually join the madness again, but for now, it's good to be away.
